About Jo Rees

Jo has over 24 years of experience in education. She begun her career as a primary school teacher, quickly progressed to the role of SENCO and SLT.

As successful SENCO and lead practitioner this led her to gain additional qualifications as a specialist of dyslexia. Jo worked for several local authorities as a consultant of SEND, setting up and running outreach provisions for dyslexia, speech and language and ASC.

In 2013 at age 34 JO was diagnosed with dyslexia and decided to write a book about her experience. ‘Don’t forget to Smile,’ is used to raise understanding and awareness of what dyslexia really is. In 2022 she published her second book, ‘Today You Got A Diagnosis of Dyslexia.’ and in 2025 received a diagnosis of ADHD.

In the last few years, as Jo has built social media following using her personal lived experience alongside her education background and knowledge to build a strong following across social media platforms.

Jo planned and delivered a sold out conference for Dyslexia and Dyscalculia on the IOW, and has delivered key note talks to companies such as Astrazenica and the NHS, as well as the Dyslexia Show. She has partnered with companies to raise awareness and develop dyslexia friendly products and resources.

In 2025 Dyslexic Life With Jo Rees has become a leading voice within the dyslexia and adhd community. Jo has developed several successful online mentoring programs and courses. The missions goal has changed slightly, her initial focus was to change education, but she is increasingly using her strong communication skills, passion to mentor and raise awareness of dyslexia to support people in managing their neurodivergence more positively, so they can confidently fulfill their potential .
